Facebook is seeking an expert facility operations engineer to join our data center operations team. Our data centers serve as the foundation upon which our software operates to meet the demands of our customers. The suitable candidate will work with the management team to facilitate operating and maintaining the data center. The candidate will need to be experienced in diverse industries such as electrical generation, electrical distribution, cooling technologies and fire suppression systems.build a world-class facility in our new Data Center in Lulea, Sweden. This role will be based in Dublin, Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Facility Operations and create facility capacity plans
• Manage monthly financial cycle activities
• Oversee day-to-day Data Center Operations
• Assess and report on power, space and cooling usage
• Manage the resolution of facility-related technical issues
• Coordinate work with other departments as required
• Optimize use of Computerized Maintenance Management System and implement necessary system changes
• Provide infrastructure support to the Server, SAN, Networking, Computer Operations and Security teams
• Establish, communicate and meet performance standards
• interview, orient and train new facility engineers
• Review and document individual performance
• Deliver regular individual performance feedback
• Maintain ongoing facility engineer training and certification programs
• Support individual professional development and career planning
• Support the Critical Environments Team
• Implement tactical and long-term strategies
• Implement business procedures and processes
• Preserve facility assets
• Achieve budgeted financial results
• Deliver special projects
• Establish, communicate and maintain operational standard

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent field of study required
• Seven (7) years experience in data center and facility management required
• Journey or Master level trade status (Electrical or Mechanical) preferred
• Trade Certification or state license in Electrical or Mechanical (HVAC) preferred
• Professional affiliations preferred (24x7, IFMA, and Data Center Pulse)

  It is important to understand what a data center is and how it impacts your Facebook experience. A data center is a central location that houses thousands of computer servers, which are networked together and linked to the outside world through fiber optic cables. Think of a data center as essentially one very large computer that contains the collective computing infrastructure to make web properties, like Facebook, work.
  
  When you create a profile on Facebook, the information you share is captured in servers located in a data center. So when you update your status, post and comment on photos or videos or otherwise communicate with friends, these servers receive your actions, compute them, and then act quickly so that you see your actions completed in seconds.

 All the equipment in the center provides electricity to the local hydroelectric power plant that runs on renewable energy, thus reducing the number of backup generators for more than 70%.
